GSP Advisory Committee Field Trip

Are you interested in the Mid-County Groundwater Basin and want to learn more? You're invited to join our GSP Advisory Committee on a Groundwater Basin Tour. We will visit a monitoring well, production wells, a drinking water storage tank, a stream gauge and a few locations on Soquel Creek. We will meet staff from agencies that work together in our region to protect habitat values and improve water supply reliability.  
 
We will hear about projects, learn about groundwater production and monitoring, drinking water sampling, stream water quality, fish habitat, low impact development standards in stream corridors, and many other important topics. Members of the public are invited to meet us at any or all of the locations on the itinerary:

  • 9:00: Meet at Coastal Monitoring Well SC-1 (Groundwater Monitoring – near Prospect and 49th Avenues in Capitola CA)
  • 9:45: Arrive at City’s Research Park Well (Production Well and DDW Sampling – 2768 Research Park Drive in Soquel CA)
  • 10:15: Arrive at Heart of Soquel Park (LID Projects and Water Quality – 4740 Soquel Drive behind the post office in Soquel CA)
  • 11:00: Arrive at Bridge Street and Soquel Creek (Gauge and Shallow Groundwater Monitoring – park near Bridge and N. Main Streets in Soquel CA)
  • 11:30: Arrive at Main Street Well (Production Well and Water Quality Sampling – park near N. Main Street and Ladera Lane in Soquel CA)
  • 11:45: Park near Bargetto Winery  (View Creek Log Jam, Discuss Fisheries, Q&A – 3535 N. Main Street in Soquel CA)
  • 12:30: Carpool from Bargetto Winery to Pringle Tank (Optional - Tank is 1 Acre Foot, final Q&A – 3535 N. Main Street in Soquel CA)
  • 1:00: Return to Bargetto Winery – Field trip complete

The MGA cannot provide transportation for members of the public. Parking is in short supply at several field trip locations. We encourage carpooling whenever possible.
