Groundwater Orientation Sessions

The Santa Cruz Mid-County Groundwater Agency (MGA) has kicked off its Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) planning effort. The agency presented four public workshops to orient our Groundwater Sustainability Plan Advisory Committee to groundwater planning and management under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).

The Mid-County Groundwater Agency was formed in 2016 in response to California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014, which requires groundwater basins be sustainably managed by 2040. The Mid-County Groundwater Agency is responsible for managing the Santa Cruz Mid-County Basin, which is in critical overdraft.

For more information, please contact Darcelle Pruitt, Senior Planner for the Mid-County Groundwater Agency at (831)662-2052 or at dpruitt@cfscc.org.
